The Dairy Connection to Illness

Natural and added hormones = CANCER!

Many scientists, doctors and their studies, prove a link between dairy products and cancer. Please note: eggs ARE NOT dairy. Dairy is milk made by an animal and milk products such as cheese, yogurt or butter.

Any babies and animal offspring are susceptible to prey therefore the mother animal produces their milk that they drink so that it is loaded with growth hormones. Growth hormones command the baby’s cells to grow and grow fast! These same hormones that save and strengthen animal and human babies are not healthy to consume past the baby stage. After the baby stage we do not need many types of natural and added synthetic hormones to be fed to humans through milk products. Now those hormones will still command cells to grow and grow fast. Simply put that is the cancer connection to milk and milk products.

When my daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia at age seven, my very first question was WHY? What causes cancer? Why is there so much of it? Below are some of the answers I found.

Milk acidifies the body pH, which in turn triggers a biological correction. You see, calcium is an excellent acid neutralizer and the biggest storage of calcium in the body is – you guessed it – in the bones. So the very same calcium that our bones need to stay strong is utilized to neutralize the acidifying effect of milk and acidic foods. Look at the Acid/Alkaline chart below to get an idea which foods are acid and which alkaline. Also you might like to see a five minute video by Dr. Gregor illustrating the acid/alkaline problem.

As you can see milk is very acid. When the blood becomes too acid this causes the body to take action by removing calcium from the bones to neutralize the acid in the blood. Once this has been done the body then releases the left over calcium and it is urinated out of the body, thereby creating a lack of calcium.

Acid equals inflammation which then leads to aches and pains. The goal is to become more alkaline equaling better health less inflammation and less pain.

Knowing this, you understand why statistics show that countries with the lowest consumption of dairy products also have the lowest fracture incidence in their population. “Consumption of dairy products, particularly at age 20 years, was associated with an increased risk of hip fracture in old age. (“Case-Control Study of Risk Factors for Hip Fractures in the Elderly”. American Journal of Epidemiology. Vol. 139, No. 5, 1994).

The 12 year long Harvard Nurses’ Health Study found that those who consumed the most calcium from dairy foods broke more bones than those who rarely drank milk. This is a broad study based on 77,761 women aged 34 through 59 years of age.

“Dairy contains some very allergenic proteins, such as casein, which can be problematic for many people.  And to make matters worse, the casein that’s in our modern dairy—sourced from modern, hybridized cows—has been genetically altered, creating a much higher likelihood of inflammation, autoimmune disease, and even type 1 diabetes.  With this in mind, I strongly recommend that you limit the amount of cow-sourced dairy that you consume.

This leads to another frequent question I receive: “Is organic dairy OK?”  Organic cows are often milked while pregnant, producing milk that’s full of hormones. In fact, the average glass of milk has 60 different hormones in it. [Emphasis added.] These are anabolic hormones, which means they help you to grow.  But not all growth is good. You don’t want to grow cancer cells.  You don’t want to grow big bellies.  You don’t want to grow in ways that actually may be harmful.” [1] Dr. Mark Hyman

Many people have heard me say, “Casein [80% of the proteins in cow’s milk is Casein.] is the most relevant chemical carcinogen ever identified.” Guilty as charged. Many times I’ve said this. Casein is a chemical carcinogen

Some chemicals in our environment qualify as carcinogens. That is, they cause cancer, based on testing them in experimental animal studies according to criteria set forth by our government.[1]

In our experiments over 25+ years, and published extensively, we showed that casein (milk protein) increased experimental cancer at levels within the range of human experience (that is the green box) — with no need to estimate low level response in humans, from high level response in rats — and we know also how it works! This suggested casein (and likely most other animal proteins) is a far more relevant carcinogen than any pesticide, herbicide, food additive or other noxious chemical ever tested. What would you conclude?” [1]

“Not everyone can stomach dairy. About 75 percent of the world’s population is genetically unable to properly digest milk and other dairy products — a problem called lactose intolerance.” Dr. Mark Hyman

More research is needed, but scientific studies have shown that many autistic kids improve dramatically when put on a diet free of dairy foods. One study of 20 children found a major reduction in autistic behavior in children who were put on a casein-free diet (casein is a component of cow’s milk). And another study done by researchers at the University of Rome showed a “marked improvement” in the behavior of autistic children who were taken off dairy products. [2]

Simple Steps Toward Health

Every time you shop, pick up a milk alternative to try. Our favorite is Coconut milk. Try several until you find one that you like. There are so many options such as Flax, Hemp, Coconut and Almond, to name a few. imgres-3

I used to love butter. The idea of quitting was horrible but I was willing to give it a go. Much to my surprise my taste buds changed in about three days. It was not difficult at all. Honestly, I have to admit that what really did it was all the information from so many authorities saying that milk is a poison. Mentally I was ready for the change.

My life-long migraines were cured after being off dairy for two months. I found this so unbelievable that I would cheat and have a dairy product, which would inevitably cause an incredible head-banger of a headache the next day. After many such tests I finally accepted that dairy was not for me and my health improved greatly as a result.

From creamers, to yogurt, to milk, there is no shortage of healthy alternatives.

The only really good cheese alternative we have found is called Chao because it tastes good and does not contain casein, the milk protein known to cause cancer. (Please note that many dairy free alternative products do use casein, so read the fine print on any dairy free products before you decide to buy.)

Once you have chosen your favorite milk alternatives then is the time to stop consuming all milk products for two months as suggested by T. Colin Campbell, PhD. He is the author of the China Study, one of the most comprehensive nutritional books ever written.

After I cleaned out my kitchen of all products containing dairy, I then quit all forms of dairy for a minimum of two months. I had some cravings for butter but all these were gone within 3 days. It was far less painful than I thought. Cooking was a bit of a trick at first until I learned that eggs come out better with coconut oil and vegetables are better with olive oil. After that I no longer needed butter to cook with anything. My sinuses drained for many weeks. Toward the end of two months I started to feel so much better that it was hard to believe.

Some of the stated benefits of quitting dairy.

❧ Weight loss.

❧ More energy, throughout the day. Apparently dairy is really hard to digest and saps your energy.

❧ Sinuses drained and cleared up, fewer headaches. It took six weeks for my sinuses to fully clear up!

❧ Acne goes away, skin totally clears up. A friend of mine had terrible acne and her dermatologist recommended she get off dairy products. Every person with skin problems that I told to quit dairy were quite surprised when their skin cleared up beautifully.

❧ Improved digestion.

❧ Increased stamina. I know, you find this hard to believe but it is completely true. You won’t believe it until you actually do it.

❧ Less aches and pains.

❧ Improved behavior in children.

❧ Deeper more restful sleep.

I dare you to find replacements for milk, butter, yogurt and cheese. Quit dairy for two months. Then have your favorite milk or cheese product. You will be shocked how your body reacts within 24 hours. You may have to repeat this as I did, several times before you realize milk or dairy is actually very bad for your health. And best of all, by removing it from your diet you are significantly lessening cancer risk.
