Chemo

Cancer in my estimation is a catch 22 in that the cancer has to be eradicated but while doing so healthy cells are also killed.  Some chemotherapeutic drugs are so toxic that their effects can show up many years after treatment in: secondary cancers, learning and cognitive deficits, heart disease, and infertility to name a few.  Particularly harmful are the class of chemotherapy agents known as alkylating agents because these can cause leukemia and many other problems in patients who have been treated with them.

This link gives you the names of all the alkylating agents currently in use. http://www.cancerrd.com/FAQs/faq54.htm

Personally, I do not like surprises.  I like to be armed with as much information as possible so that I can prevent any unseen consequences.  Of course I cannot foresee everything but at least I have tried to be aware and have taken reasonable steps to avoid/mitigate the known pitfalls.  Hopefully you will feel the same after becoming educated through these pages.

Wake Up Call

When Kayla, my seven-year-old-daughter, was started on Doxorubicin, an alkylating agent, I was told that she would undergo sonograms for her heart, every third dose.  My internal alarm bells rang.  Research into this medication lead to the realization that heart disease is a very real side effect.  The answer was to find medical studies for supplements proven in mitigating this effect.  Co-Q10 has approximately sixteen thousand pages of information through medical literature. Presenting some of this information for her oncologist, resulted in approval of her daily use of CO-Q10.  The key medical studies were then put together for this website so that you too could print out the page for doctor consultation.

There are thousands of pages on the Internet pushing/educating people to become more healthy.  All of this is available to you and is NOT difficult to implement.  It is imperative for any patient undergoing treatment of any kind.  More and more Television shows are also pushing this message.  The main problem that I have encountered with people is the refusal to look because of being brainwashed from many years of marketing propaganda pushing packaged, fast, no-effort-foods that are incorrectly labeled as food.  The next misconception is the idea that alternatives cannot be used with medicine.  This is totally false!  Medical and alternatives used together are a powerful combination of tools providing far more immediate benefits to the patient.  The choice is yours.

Food

If food is processed so that it does not look like food then it is not food.  Then on the other hand you have packaged food that look great but have many ingredients that are very bad for you such as Aspartame and MSG.  Food by definition is designed to give the body energy and vitality.  There is no quick fix!  Health takes dedication, effort and time.  Once your health routine has become established all of the effort gets very easy. It is the learning curve that can be daunting.

Treatment

During your treatment your doctor may not approve of supplements as these could interfere with your medical regimen, but exercise, water, lite vegetable juicing and cooking with natural ingredients would never be negated.  Once you are off treatment you can then supplement with doctor approval. Your goal should be in an effort to attain the highest level of health attainable.  The main point I am trying to make is that you can grab the reins and start.  Each step taken is in the right direction.  Before you know it, you will have achieved a healthier life style.

I have tried to cover all of these points on this site.  If you see anything missing or would like something specifically covered, please contact me through the email address below.

Best Wishes to You.
