This blog is a summary of our cancer travels and the solutions that I found to mitigate the many side effects which accompany chemo. All I want to do is help other people going through the same thing. Please understand that we are still going through treatment and it is taking me time to get everything onto this site. It is still under construction.

Chinese Medicine

Kayla has been off of treatment for 13 months.  There have been many issues or “lasting effects” from her chemotherapy.  Many of these are dissipating except for the damage to her digestion, which has caused us to go to the emergency four times since the completion of treatment.  One doctor told us that all of [...]

Two Countries to Phase Out Nuclear Power

May 30th, 2011  |  by debwitter  |  Published in Uncategorized

Here is some news hot off the press.
Both Germany and Switzerland have decided to phase out nuclear power!  Here is the first quote, “Germany announced on Monday that it will shut down all its nuclear plants by 2022, and the eight reactors that shut down following the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in Japan won’t be reactivated”, AFP reported. Celebrating Life

A dear friend past a way last week.  We attended the funeral services yesterday.
I hate regrets.  In this one I do have them.  Since Kayla’s cancer I no longer socialize like I used to.  This is also the case with my husband.  Kayla is now the social butterfly in our home.  Now, I am regretting [...]

Deadly Dust, the Movie

May 10th, 2011  |  by debwitter  |  Published in Uncategorized

Have you ever met someone who is passionate about something?  They speak with conviction and knowledge while instilling in the listener the emotions carried with the words.
We have a big problem in society, something that has been increasing with time.  A sort of decay that I started to see during Kayla’s cancer treatment. This [...]

Slippery Elm Bark

May 8th, 2011  |  by debwitter  |  Published in Uncategorized

Well the coffee experiment did not really work.  At least not enough to make any noticeable change for Kayla.  Instead we are using slippery elm bark powder put into hot water.  This herb is supposed to be excellent for the bowels and digestive track.  It also helps alleviate constipation.  We give it to Kayla twice [...]

Coffee for Kids?

April 28th, 2011  |  by debwitter  |  Published in Uncategorized

As you know we have had some very real issues with Kayla’s digestion since chemotherapy.  Kayla is now almost a year off of chemo and the severe constipation has landed her in the hospital three
times.  Finally a doctor told me that her sensory nerves, which tell her when she needs to move her bowels, look completely destroyed.  [...]

I suscribe to a science news letter.  Today I received their latest report having to do with Round Up Ready Crops and what these crops are doing to the animals being fed with them.  Very interesting. In this article  a scientist is exposing the fact that the animals fed these products are having spontaneous abortions [...]

Surreal

Here is the promised picture a couple of days later.
I was going to do the usual run for gas, except this time (all the time now) I knew the place I was going to go because of their price.  I pull up to the pump and am startled by an HDTV monitor that is placed [...]

Constipation

January 7th, 2011  |  by debwitter  |  Published in Uncategorized

We ended up going to the emergency room for Kayla because she had terrible stomach pain, a band of red across her abdomen that was about five inches high going across the front of her belly.  Completely weird symptom.  After tests the doctor said he had not seen such bad constipation.  His stated theory of [...]
