Nail Fungus Remedies Do Nothing

Kayla is starting to improve mentally. For the first time ever (since chemo) she was able to spell her spelling words. Usually she will learn the word and forget it a minute later. The fact that she was able to mentally visualize the word is a huge stride in the right direction. What a relief that a basic mental function is actually starting to appear. You have no idea what an impact this has for a person to be able to think and solve problems.

This morning we were going through our nail fungus routine. It is such a pain in the butt! Soak hands for at least ten minutes in the White iodine, garlic, water. Dry thoroughly and apply Nail-Tek, wait a few minutes, and apply Lamisil. This does not include her breakfast, protein shake and vitamins. Then we do the looking game and eye exercises. It is busy, busy. Anyway, Kayla looks at me and says “call the doctors and ask them about surgery for my nails. I want them all taken off and the infection scrubbed off!” I was stunned to hear these words come out of her mouth. I told her that I did not think this is something that the doctors offer.

Her statement galvanized me into action. I decided I would attack this problem the same as the earlier bone problem by talking and questioning everyone that I meet or know until something is found. I know, I sound crazy when I say this but it works. It may take 20 people but who cares. P1020353

I started with the Medical library and there was nothing there. The only studies that I could find had to do with antifungal medications that are bad for the liver. There wasn’t even ONE alternative solution written. Next I went to the Health Food Store. Recommendations included Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide, Tea Tree oil, Oregano oil and probiotics placed directly on the nail. All of these suggestions are no good except for the probiotics because they are all too strong. We might have been able to use some of these at the very beginning but not now. Her skin around her half gone nails is red and raw so any of the proposed products would have her plastered on our ceiling screaming in pain. Forget it.

Then I went to a large hardware store and happened to talk to a lighting engineer. I asked him about Infrared lights which he said would make the fungus worse. He suggested I use UV-C light to kill the fungus. He then directed me to a pet store for these lights that are used on reptiles. Two stores later with no light. Turns out that there is a hand held UV-C light made by Purely called a Pocket Purifier. I found it on Amazon.com for fourteen dollars and change. The order was placed and it will arrive within two days. I will let you know how it goes.

We are scheduled for the chiropractic appointment today after school. The consult will be $15.00 and an adjustment $45.00 I want to try it because he said it is unusual for her to have the fungus just on her hands. If it were hands and feet he would think that it’s a systemic infection. Since it is only on her hands he thinks that an adjustment could help the blood flow to her hands. Honestly, I do not bank much with chiropractic but have used it in the past with success. Since nothing is working, or works for days and stops working, I feel like I have to do more to battle this thing. I cannot really afford the costs but what the heck. We’re gonna try it. I will let you know what happens with this continuing mini-saga.

Two weeks left, two weeks left for chemo. I am counting the days until I can bring her chemo bottles to the clinic and turn them over! Once she is off chemo then I can start giving her B-complex, garlic, Pau D’arco tea, and lots of other goodies for fungus. We can also have her do Hyperbaric chamber for healing as well. Diabetics with wounds that will not heal are treated with Hyperbaric so that the wounds heal. It is a great therapy that is medically recognized and validated. There you go, I accidentally laid out most of my game plan.
