Resources
When you are suddenly thrown into a major medical situation, life can become very overwhelming. Here are some tips to help you find resources and attached is a spreadsheet with many websites and links.
Your first step is to use the medical facility where you are, they have many valuable print outs and directions to local support groups, etc. Talk to them and find out what is available.
All hospitals have social workers that are there to help the patient. These social workers can refer you to needed services. Find the social worker at your hospital and in the least, get their business card. Many agencies require a referral from the social worker in order to receive their services.
With insurance issues talk to your doctor or nurse as soon as an issue comes up. They know the system and usually have an immediate answer.
Do not hesitate to ask for help. Just know that the medical and hospital staff are there to help you!
