Monday March 22nd, 2010 Nail Fungus Worse

Wow. I feel under pressure. First I found out that the blog was a mess and very confusing because of not entering dates into another box that I did not know about. Last week I worked every night until 1:00 am trying to figure this out. It took days and many hours to get all of this straight.

The prescription for Milk Thistle did not work out because it caused Kayla vomiting in the night. I gave her the herb as a test, by itself to see what would happen. I wanted to try this before giving her the prescribed anti-fungal. Then I read all of the information on the anti-fungal and found that people who are allergic to penicillin cannot take this drug. Kayla is allergic to Penicillin, this could have been a disaster if I had not read the drug information. I left a message with the clinic to let them know what is happening. P4110045

Two days later, Kayla’s cuticle on her thumb got very swollen and red. I called her pediatrician. Boy, he let me know that he disagreed with any anti-fungals because of her liver history. Then he upbraided me for not using a paste made of garlic for her nails saying that garlic is a good anti-fungal. I do not know why I did not do it after we had originally spoken… He called in a prescription for her swollen finger for us to try this same night and if the swelling did not go down by the next morning he would have to come over and pop it to get the swelling out. Yikes I hope this works. P3200030

The infection on her thumb healed. Thank God! Because of the fungus I got permission from the oncologist to get something put into Kayla’s mouth to help prevent finger sucking. He said as long as it does not touch her gums it should be fine. I spent a week making appointments and getting prices. The prices ranged from $60.00 up to $450.00. The $60.00 treatment is small spurs attached to the back of the four front teeth. When the person sucks their fingers the spurs will point into the finger and cause discomfort. We are getting these installed right away.
